We are an independent studio based in Sussex, building websites, search visibility and business systems. The towns below are the ones we write about in detail. Everywhere else in the UK, and English-language work in Europe and the United States, runs remotely.
Werehouse Media is a Sussex-based studio that builds business automation, bespoke applications and websites for companies in the UK and worldwide, and gets those websites found on Google and in AI search. The studio is near Uckfield in East Sussex, and the local work concentrates on a ring of towns within about fifteen miles of it, where being close genuinely helps: Uckfield, Crowborough, Lewes, Haywards Heath, East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells.
Beyond that ring, across Sussex, Kent and the rest of the UK, proximity stops mattering and the work is won on the site itself. Europe and the United States are served remotely in English, invoiced in sterling. Distance changes neither the price nor the timeline: a website starts at £995, a multi-page build runs £1,495 upwards with the timeline set at quote stage, and search groundwork is included in every build.
The patch
Near you matters less than it used to.
Being local helps when you want someone to walk your site, photograph your workshop or sit across a table. It matters far less for the build itself. What actually decides whether you get found is whether your site has a real page for each service you sell and each town you sell it in, and whether your Google Business Profile is set up properly + much, much more. That work is identical whether we are ten minutes away or two hundred miles.

Design-led businesses and independent retail. Brighton in particular is a crowded market, which makes the structural SEO work matter more than the design does.

Professional, financial and regulated firms, where a site has to survive a compliance review and still persuade a client. Tunbridge Wells is closer to the studio than Brighton is, so meeting in person is easy.

The whole process runs on calls, a shared preview link and email, and a build runs perfectly well without ever meeting in person. Where competition is national, the site itself has to do more of the work, so speed and pages that answer the question matter more than being nearby.

Contracts and invoices in sterling, with working hours that cover the whole European day and the US East Coast morning. Ed is often in Lisbon, Portugal, so meeting there in person is sometimes possible too.

Read this before you enquire
When this is not for you
Distance is not a good reason to rule us out. These are.
- You want to walk into an office and sit down with a team. We work remotely, and the whole process runs on calls, email and shared drafts. If you would rather point at a screen in the same room, a local studio suits you better.
- You want a site that copies your biggest competitor. Looking like the market leader is how you end up invisible standing next to them. If the brief is a clone of somebody else's site, we are the wrong studio to ask.
- You need someone who can be on site quickly. There is no office and no drop-in. Meetings happen on a call, or in person across Sussex and west Kent by arrangement, usually a week or two out.
- You need cover while we are away. We take a limited number of builds at a time, and a queue is normal. If your business needs a support rota with a guaranteed response time, an agency is the better buy.
- You want the phone ringing within a fortnight. A single page can be live in days, but the search work is measured in months. If next week is the deadline, spend the money on Google Ads instead.

Do you have to be local to build my website?
No. The whole process runs on a kick-off call, a private preview link and email. Being nearby is genuinely useful for photography and for meeting face to face, and if you are in Kent, Sussex or London that is easy. It makes no difference to how the site performs.
Can you get me showing up for “near me” searches?
That is mostly Google Business Profile work rather than website work, and it is the first thing we fix. Correct primary category, real service list, service area set properly, photos, and a steady trickle of reviews. Then a real page on your site for each town you actually cover. It is not fast, but it is the thing that works.
Do you work with businesses outside England?
Yes. Werehouse Media is based in Sussex and works with businesses across the UK and worldwide, with English-language projects in Europe and the United States run remotely and invoiced in pounds.
