WordPress support & maintenance · UK

Your WordPress site, looked after by somebody who answers.

Most WordPress problems are not dramatic. They are an update nobody ran, a plugin nobody remembers installing, and a developer who stopped replying in 2023.

Werehouse Media provides WordPress support and maintenance for UK businesses, including sites we did not build: core, theme and plugin updates, backups, security and malware clean-up, uptime monitoring and small changes. Plans start at £49 a month with no contract, and the site stays with the host it is on now.

The first look at your site is free, and emergency fixes for a site that is hacked, broken or offline start at £99. We build most new sites by hand rather than on WordPress, and we look after WordPress sites properly. When a rebuild would serve you better than another year of patching, we will tell you.

What does a WordPress care plan cover?

Everything that keeps a WordPress site safe, working and current, done on a schedule rather than when something breaks:

  • Core, theme and plugin updates, with a backup taken first and the site checked afterwards.
  • Backups kept away from the server, so a failed host or a hacked account is never the end of the site.
  • Security: monitoring, hardening, unused accounts removed, and malware cleaned up if it ever gets in.
  • Uptime monitoring, so you hear about an outage from us rather than from a customer.
  • Small changes each month: text, images, prices, staff, opening hours.
  • Speed checks on the Standard and Plus plans, because WordPress sites slow down as plugins accumulate.

WordPress's own security guidance is blunt about why the updates matter: “Older versions of WordPress are not maintained with security updates.” (WordPress hardening guide.) Most attacks on WordPress sites are automated scans for known holes in out-of-date software, not somebody singling out your business. Keeping it current closes most of them.

Emergency help: a hacked site, a white screen, a site that is down

Emergency fixes start at £99, priced before we start, with or without a plan. The order is always the same: take a copy of the site as it is, find the cause rather than the symptom, clean or restore, close the hole it came through, and tell you in plain English what happened.

We do not promise a response time we cannot keep. We take a limited number of projects at a time, so when you get in touch we will say honestly when we can start before you agree to anything.

Taking over a WordPress site someone else built

The first look is free. It covers the WordPress and PHP versions, the theme, every plugin and whether its developer still maintains it, the backups, the admin accounts and anything already broken. You get it in writing.

If you go ahead, logins are set up in your name, a full backup is taken before anything changes, and the site moves onto one of the plans below. It stays on its current host unless the host is the problem, in which case we will recommend where to move it and quote for doing so.

Plans and prices

What does WordPress support cost?

The same three plans as every site we look after, with no contract: cancel whenever you like and the plan carries on until your next billing date. For a WordPress site staying on its current host, you keep paying that host as you do now. Published UK WordPress plans we checked in October 2026 started between about £49 and £90 a month, some before VAT. We are not VAT registered.

Is WordPress outdated in 2026?

No. WordPress runs 40.1% of all websites, and 58.6% of the sites whose content system can be identified, according to W3Techs on 7 October 2026. It is still the sensible choice for a business that publishes often and wants to do it without a developer.

What goes wrong with WordPress is rarely WordPress itself. It is the plugins added over the years, the theme that stopped being updated, and the fact that nobody owns the job of looking after it. That is a maintenance problem, and it is fixable.

WooCommerce shops

A shop needs more care than a brochure site, because a broken checkout costs money by the hour. Updates are run more carefully, the checkout and order emails are tested afterwards, and payment provider settings are part of the first check. If the shop has outgrown WooCommerce, we will say so and explain the alternatives.

When maintaining it stops being worth it

Some WordPress sites cost more to keep alive than to replace: a theme abandoned by its developer, a page builder that makes every change a fight, or a plugin stack nobody can untangle. When the free first look finds that, the note says so, with a price for a website redesign that keeps the rankings you have already earned. We build by hand, and we will tell you honestly when a rebuild would serve you better. Plenty of WordPress sites only need looking after, and when that is the answer, we say that too.

Straight answers

WordPress support questions.

Who can help me with my WordPress site?

We can, including sites we did not build. Plans start at £49 a month with no contract, the site stays with its current host, and the first look is free. If you only need a one-off fix, emergency work starts at £99 and is priced before we start.

How much does WordPress maintenance cost in the UK?

Four UK WordPress maintenance plans we checked in October 2026 started between £49 and £90 a month, some of them before VAT, and plans with development time included run into the hundreds. Ours are £49, £79 and £149 a month. We are not VAT registered, so that is the price you pay.

What does WordPress maintenance include?

Core, theme and plugin updates with a backup taken first, regular backups kept off the server, security monitoring and malware clean-up, uptime monitoring, and a set amount of content and design changes each month. New pages, features and redesigns are quoted separately as projects.

Where can I find urgent WordPress support?

If the site is down, hacked or showing a white screen, contact us with the address and what you can see. Emergency fixes start at £99, priced before we start. We take a limited number of projects at a time, so we will tell you honestly when we can get to it rather than promise a response time we cannot keep.

Will updates break my site?

They can, which is why they are not run blind. A backup is taken first, updates go in in a sensible order, and the site is checked afterwards. When a plugin has a history of breaking things, or has been abandoned by its developer, we tell you and suggest a replacement rather than keep patching around it.

Do you need my hosting login?

Usually, yes: WordPress admin access plus access to the hosting account or at least its backups and file manager. Everything stays in your name. We ask for our own logins rather than sharing yours, so access can be removed cleanly if you ever move on.

Do you work on sites built with Elementor, Divi or another page builder?

Yes. Page builders work, but they make pages heavier and changes slower. If the builder is the reason the site is slow or fragile, the free first look will say so, and we will tell you whether fixing it or replacing it costs less.

Do you support WooCommerce shops?

Yes. Shops need more care with updates because a broken checkout costs money by the hour, so updates are tested more carefully and the checkout is checked afterwards. Payment provider settings and order emails are part of what we look at in the first check.
