Web design · Surrey
Web design across Surrey.
Surrey customers research properly before they call. That changes what a website has to do: it has to survive being read carefully rather than glanced at.
Werehouse Media is a one-person, SEO-led web design studio covering Surrey, including Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate, Redhill, Farnham, Camberley, Leatherhead, Esher and Staines. The same person does the design, the copy, the build and the search work. Single-page sites start at £495, most multi-page builds land between £1,795 upwards, with the timeline agreed at quote stage, and standalone search work is sold as one-off projects rather than monthly retainers: an audit and fix list at £495, or local foundations at £995. Clients own the domain, the code and every account outright, with no lock-in. Surrey buyers tend to compare three or four suppliers in detail before enquiring, so pages that publish real prices, real process and real limitations convert better here than pages that keep everything behind a call.
The market here
An affluent, sceptical market that reads the whole page before it calls.
Surrey has among the highest household incomes in the country and a commuter population that is used to buying professional services carefully. The practical effect on a website is unusual: people read more of it. They open your pricing page, they read the process, they check whether you have said anything specific, and they compare you against two or three others before anyone picks up a phone.
That rewards a very particular kind of site. Vague copy about passion and partnership performs badly here. Published prices, a named process with stages and timescales, and an honest paragraph about who you are not right for all perform well, because they let a careful buyer finish their research without having to book a call to get basic information. A site that withholds prices to force an enquiry loses this audience to one that does not.
Commercially, Surrey splits into two useful groups. There are the professional service firms, accountants, solicitors, advisers, consultants and clinics, where credibility and clarity decide the enquiry. And there are the high-value home services, landscaping, building, interiors, restoration, kitchen and bathroom fitting, where project values are large enough that a customer will spend a fortnight researching before committing, and where photography carries most of the persuasion.
Who I build for in Surrey
Four kinds of business, four different jobs.
01
High-value home services
Landscaping, building, interiors, kitchens, restoration.
Photography given proper room, real project detail rather than a gallery of thumbnails, published guide prices, and an enquiry form that qualifies so you stop quoting for jobs that were never going to happen.
02
Professional and financial services
Accountants, solicitors, IFAs, consultants.
Clear service pages that each rank on their own terms, compliance handled in the wording, and credibility signals placed where a careful reader will actually find them.
03
Clinics and private healthcare
Dental, aesthetic, physiotherapy, veterinary.
A page per treatment, published prices where the regulator allows, and a booking route that does not rely on somebody answering reception.
04
Schools, clubs and membership organisations
Independent education, sports clubs, associations.
Information architecture that survives a parent looking for one specific thing at nine at night, and a site somebody non-technical can update.
The search reality
What ranking in Surrey actually takes
| Factor | How it works in Surrey | What to do about it |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer behaviour | Longer research cycles and more comparison than almost anywhere else in the South East. | Publish prices, process and limitations. Pages that answer the whole question convert this audience; pages that tease a call do not. |
| Town coverage | Surrey is a county of distinct towns, not one blended conurbation. Guildford, Woking, Epsom and Reigate behave as separate markets. | A real page for each town you actually work in, written specifically. One page targeting "Surrey" competes badly against town-level pages. |
| Competition level | Moderate. Higher than rural Sussex, well below Brighton or London, with some well-resourced professional firms. | Winnable with the fundamentals done properly and content that is genuinely more specific than the competition's. |
| Google Business Profile | Important, and often set up once and abandoned. | Correct category, service area drawn to the towns you cover, photographs, and a habit of asking for reviews after every job. |
What it costs
Prices do not change with your postcode.
Every project is quoted in writing before anything starts. There is no hourly meter and no surprise invoice at the end.
- Single-page site, from £495. Usually a placeholder for something bigger later, or a business that genuinely only needs one page.
- Multi-page build, £1,795 upwards. Most Surrey projects land here. Timeline agreed at quote stage, unlimited revisions between the first and final draft.
- Complex builds with custom animation, five figures. Longer timeline, quoted properly.
- Search and AI visibility audit, on application. A one-off look at what is holding an existing site back on Google and in AI answers, with a prioritised list.
- Local SEO foundations, £995. One-off project: Google Business Profile, town and service pages, technical fixes.
- Search groundwork, included in every build. Technical SEO, structured data, fast pages and a properly configured Google Business Profile, done once and done right rather than billed monthly.
- Brand kits from £895. Automation priced on application. Website care from £49 a month.
A third books the work, a third on the first draft, the balance before launch. Every build includes thirty days of post-launch fixes and reasonable tweaks.

When I am not the right choice
Being outside Surrey is not a good reason to rule me out. These are.
- You need a team with cover. One person means one holiday, one bout of flu and a limited number of builds at a time. If you need a guaranteed response time, buy an agency.
- You want a stripped-down version of a bigger build. There is a proper single-page site from £495 and I will point you at it when it fits. I will not quote a thinned-out multi-page build that does half of each job.
- You want the phone ringing within a fortnight. A page can be live in days, but search work is measured in months. If next week is the deadline, spend the money on Google Ads.
- You want to sit in an office and point at a screen. The process runs on calls, email and shared drafts, with meetings in person by arrangement.
Surrey questions
Straight answers.
All of them: Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate, Redhill, Farnham, Camberley, Leatherhead, Dorking, Esher, Weybridge, Walton, Staines, Godalming, Haslemere and the villages between. The build runs remotely and meetings in person are straightforward across most of the county.
In Surrey, usually yes. This is an audience that researches thoroughly and compares carefully, and hiding your prices to force a phone call mostly filters out the people who were doing their homework properly. A guide range with an honest explanation of what moves it works better than a number-free page.
Not if you want to rank in the towns. Surrey behaves as a set of distinct markets rather than one, so a page for each town you genuinely work in will outperform a single county page. Only build the ones you can write something real about.
Yes, and it is a good share of the work. The usual job is turning a site that says very little across five pages into one where each service has its own page, ranks on its own terms and answers the questions a careful buyer actually has.
