Job management software, a CRM, or a spreadsheet that finally broke

If you schedule work, send engineers somewhere and invoice from what happened, you want job management software, not a CRM. A CRM tracks a sales pipeline. It does not know what a job, a site or a visit is, and bending one into that shape is where the pain comes from.

Buy the product first. Build only when the objects you track genuinely do not fit anything on the market.

Why people add “reddit” to this search

Because the vendor comparison sites are affiliate-funded almost without exception, and you want to hear from people running actual jobs rather than people ranking software.

We have no affiliate arrangements with any of these products. We also do not sell them, which is why the advice below is mostly “buy one”.

What the threads actually say

Quotes below are from public discussions, kept short and linked to the original so you can read the full context rather than take our summary for it.

What we would tell you, with the numbers

Name your objects before you shop. Write down the things your business actually tracks: customers, sites, assets, jobs, visits, certificates. Then check which products model those natively. This one exercise eliminates most of the shortlist.

The mobile experience decides adoption. If the people on site will not use it in the rain with cold hands, the office ends up doing double entry and you have made things worse.

Check what leaves the system. Invoicing, accounts sync, customer notifications. Integration gaps are where the manual work quietly reappears.

Do not build first. Bespoke starts at £4,500 here and we will still tell you to try the products first. Where we usually help is the layer between them: the enquiry routing, the follow-up, the reporting, from £650 after a £495 process audit.

The short version

Most of these threads end with someone saying they wish they had fixed the process before buying the software. That is the correct order.

The longer write-up, with the full working, is here: Job management software vs a CRM. If you would rather see what we actually sell and what it costs, that is on the Business automation.

Every price on this site is published and fixed in writing before work starts. We are Werehouse Holdings Ltd, company number 16802511, and you can check that.
